Natural vs Quick-Light Shisha Charcoal: Which Is Better?

When buying shisha charcoal you will find two main types: natural pressed charcoal (cubes and discs) and quick-light charcoal. Both have advantages, but the experience is very different.

Quick-light charcoal

It contains ignition accelerants that let it light with a match in seconds. Convenient — but it often brings odours that affect the tobacco flavour and a shorter burn.

Natural pressed charcoal

Made from ground natural charcoal with a natural binder pressed into moulds. It needs a burner or electric heater for a few minutes, but delivers:

  • Steady heat for longer.
  • Clean taste with no odour.
  • Less, lighter ash.
  • Better heat control.
