A good supplier saves you money, time and headaches. Before you pay a deposit on the first shipment, ask these questions.
- Will they send samples? A confident supplier sends samples that match what they ship.
- Are specs in writing? Moisture, ash and sizes should be stated in the contract.
- What is their capacity? Can they supply your monthly volume without interruption?
- Do they have export experience? Ask which markets they ship to.
- How do they pack? Ask for photos of packing, cartons and loading.
- Do they prepare documents? Certificate of origin, shipping certificates and more.
- Do they document loading? Photos and video for each container are a professional sign.
- How is communication? Fast, clear replies predict after-sales service.
Red flags
- Prices far below market without explanation.
- Refusing samples or specifications.
- Vague company details and address.
