Shisha Charcoal Sizes: 22, 25, 26 or 27 mm — Which Should You Choose?

When ordering shisha charcoal wholesale you will always be asked about size. Size is not a minor detail — it determines heat output, burn time and how many pieces each bowl needs.

The most common sizes

  • 22 mm: small cubes with gentler heat, good for small bowls and relaxed sessions.
  • 25 mm: the most popular size, a good balance of heat and duration.
  • 26 mm: slightly stronger heat and longer burn, requested by many cafés.
  • 27 mm and up: for large bowls and long sessions.
  • Hexagonal and flat discs: used with heat management devices for even heat.

How to choose

By bowl size

A small bowl needs 2–3 small cubes; a large one may need 3–4 larger cubes.

By tobacco type

Some tobaccos need more heat, others burn quickly if overheated — testing is the best judge.

By venue

Cafés with long sessions prefer larger sizes to reduce coal changes.

Does size affect cost?

Price is usually per kilo, but the right size reduces waste and lowers real consumption per session.
